DIY Shot Glasses Out of PEPPERMINT CANDIES?

The best part of the holidays is seeing my Christmas tree lit… For me, it’s all about being festive, so I am making a special holiday cocktail, BUT I am not going to use a regular shot glass. Nope! Because it is a special occasion, we are making homemade Peppermint Shot Glasses!

You know those peppermint candies that you probably won’t ever eat? Well, this will put them to good use. That use being a vessel for booze… orrr even just some chocolate milk… something for the kids – RIP Auntie Fee.

If you love DIYs, you’d love this one! It is quick, easy, and expensive to make. It also takes the shape of a beautiful cup, so you can use it to hold small treats.

In the video, I shared both the DIY peppermint shot glasses recipe and my special Holiday cocktail recipe – It gets me in the zone.

EQUIPMENT

  • 4 Shot glasses
  • Parchment-lined baking sheet
  • Oven
  • Cocktail shaker
  • Jigger or measuring cups

INGREDIENTS

For Peppermint Shot Glasses:

  • 28 Starlight peppermint candies

For Special Holiday Cocktail:

  • Ice cubes
  • 3 oz. Vodka
  • 2.5 oz. Baileys Irish cream
  • 1.5 oz. White chocolate liqueur
  • Caramel sauce to taste

INSTRUCTIONS

  1. 1Preheat oven to 300 F.
  2. Unwrap the peppermint candies. Arrange it on a parchment-lined baking sheet in a group of seven. Arrange every seven candies to form a hexagon shape.
  3. Place the pan in the oven to bake for 11 minutes.
  4. Time to make the cocktail. Pour some ice cubes into the glass of the cocktail shaker (or the smaller can of your two-piece shaker), measure in the vodka (base), Baileys Irish cream, white chocolate liqueur, and drizzle caramel sauce to taste. Put on the top of the shaker and shake vigorously to mix all the ingredients.
  5. For the peppermint shot glasses – Turn the shot glasses upside down. Then, take the melted candy out of the oven, carefully remove them from the parchment paper and fold them over the shot glasses – so that it takes the same shape. Allow the molten candy glasses to cool and solidify before removing them from the bottom of the glasses.
  6. Pour the cocktail or any preferred drink into the peppermint shot glasses, and enjoy!

Notes

  1. Place a bucket of ice closeby when dealing with the melted candy so that you can cool off your hands. Why? When these come out of the oven, you only have about a minute where they are malleable enough to work with them, so you WILL end up burning your fingers a bit – they are damn hot! And you’ve got to work quickly. If you take too much time before molding the candy over the glasses, the peppermint shot glasses won’t turn out right.
