This easy Spooky Circus Animal Truffles recipe is perfect for the festive season, and it is inexpensive too. You can find everything you need very easily and affordable too…

You only need a bag of Mother’s circus animal cookies (I would advise you to buy 2 bags just in case…), cream cheese, chocolate chips, orange sprinkles, Betty Crocker’s Goblin pearls cupcake gems, and Halloween sprinkles.

How to Make Spooky Circus Animal Truffles

The first step is to crush the circus animal cookies. You can achieve this with a food processor or place them in an airtight plastic bag and crush them with a rolling pin.

Note: I’ve received intel that Mother’s makes a Halloween version of these cookies if you really want to get into the spirit (no pun intended). I used the traditional ones because I happen to be very fond of pink. But that’s yo business.

Once you have crushed or blended the cookies into fine crumbs, transfer it into a medium bowl and add in the cream cheese. The cream cheese serves as a binding ingredient, and it gives this recipe an extra creamy flavor.

Combine the cookie crumbs and cream cheese with a spoon or wet hands.

Scoop a little of the cookie dough with your hands, roll it between both palms to form a little ball, and place it on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. Repeat until the cookie mixture is all used up.

Place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator to cool and firm up for 30 minutes. Now, before taking the cookie balls out of the refrigerator, melt the chocolate chips using the double boiler method.

Note: Melting the chocolate using the double boiler method gives you control over the heat and helps make sure you don’t burn your chocolate. This spooky circus animal truffles recipe is so easy, the only way you’d ever fail is if you burn your chocolate, and the double boiler makes that nearly impossible.

Carefully dip one truffle at a time into the melted chocolate and roll it around with 2 forks until it is completely covered. Use a fork to gently lift it from the melted chocolate and the other fork to cut off the excess.

Place all the coated truffles back on the parchment-lined cookie sheet.

And now, for the spooky effects…

Sprinkle some orange sprinkles, cupcake gems, and Halloween sprinkles before the coating hardens.

Place the cookie sheet in the refrigerator to chill and firm up for another 30 minutes. And you are done!

How to Store Spooky Circus Animal Truffles

You can make these treats ahead of time or keep your leftover for later; simply store it on a plate and keep it in the refrigerator for up to a week. The chocolate coating will remain firm and chilled for as long as it stays refrigerated.
